Naked Gun/Leslie Nielsen Memorial Week enters its third day with another zany movie quote.
Today's contains no video and no extended comment about the great Leslie William Nielsen. Instead, let's get straight to the quote setup.
The following happens late in the Naked Gun, just before the baseball sequence. After "rescuing" the Queen of England during an embarrassing stunt that ended with Frank on top of Her Majesty, Lieutenant Drebin is summarily dismissed from the police department. He knows Vincent Ludwig is planning something big, but is ordered to clean out his desk.
And so the good lieutenant dutifully begins packing up his police career and rifles through a file cabinet for anything he can throw away. He comes across a key piece of evidence from (presumably) a case he worked several years ago. The results, as usual, are cringe-worthy.
FRANK: "Hey look at that. The missing evidence in the Kellner case. My God, he was innocent."
ED: "He went to the chair two years ago, Frank."
FRANK: (slams file cabinet shut) "Well, what's the use?"
